TERRELL AND MILLER WIN 2014
NEBRASKA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
AND $4000 IN CASH AND PRISES

Ev Terrell and James Miller caught a one-day total of 5 walleyes weighing 20.40 pounds to claim victory at the 2014 Cabela’s Nebraska State Walleye Championship at Lake McConaughy on Sunday September 7, 2014. They edged out the father son duo of Blaine and Nick Presley who caught 5 walleyes weighing 20.20. Pounds to secure the championship win. Terrell and Miller won $4000 in total earning included $3000 in cash and $1000 Ranger boat certificate. Terrell and Miller said they were using fle fly1 oz jigging spoons to catch their fish and were thrilled to win this tournament as they held off the second place team by just .20 tenths of a pound. Finishing in second place Presley and Presley were awarded $2000 in cash for their impressive finish and stated they caught their fish on fle fly 1 ounce jigging spoons.

Finishing in a close third was the team of Brian Regelin and Brett Vinzant who weighed 5 fish for 19.78 pounds and took home $1000 for their finish. They were using the new 1 ¼ ounce bendable jigging spoons from Big Eye Spinnerbaits and were fishing 40 plus foot of water.

In all $6000 in cash and $1000 for the ranger boats certificate, totaling $7000 paid out to the top 3 teams. Seventeen of Nebraska’s top teams fished this event. Those teams also enjoyed a free meal at the rules meeting sponsored by Ranger Boats. The top ten points teams this season also received cash prizes totaling over $3000. Miller and Cooper this year’s “TEAM OF THE YEAR” received $1000 in cash and 2 St Croix rods for winning the points. The team of the year for all 4 tournaments was Justin Hampton and Josh Tuenge who had the most points for all 4 tournaments and received a Ranger boats certificate worth $2000. Next year’s schedule will be coming out soon.

 


 

MILLER AND COOPER WIN “TEAM OF THE YEAR”

Completing another incredible season, James Miller and Jason Cooper of Hershey and Sutherland, NE win the “TEAM OF THE YEAR” award on the Nebraska Walleye Trail Tour. Miller and Cooper and the other top 10 teams will receive their Prizes at the Awards Banquet sponsored by Ranger boats on Saturday, September 6th. The Awards Banquet and Rules Meeting will start at 7:00 PM MST. (A FREE meal is provided)

 


 

CABELA’S NWT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

Lake McConaughy will be host to the Cabela’s NWT State Championship walleye tournament on Saturday and Sunday September 7th. To qualify for this event anglers must have fished in 3 regular season events. You may use a substitution for this tournament. Your team must send in the entry form and the $200 entry fee to participate. Over $1800 will be added to the championship purse, making this a great paying event to fish. You can download an entry form from this site. We will have a free meal sponsored by Ranger Boats at the rules meeting and Awards Banquet on Friday September 6th starting at 7:00 PM MST at Marina Landing. Registration for the championship will be from 6:30-7:00 PM MST. Pease Register ASAP so we can get a count for the meal! Tournament Hours will start at 6:30 AM MST and end at 3:00 PM MST. Boat checks start at 5:45 AM and end at 6:15 AM.

CURT BAKER AND KERRY KLEEB WIN THE NWT SHUT-UP AND FISH ON LAKE MCCONAUGHY

Curt Baker and Kerry Kleeb brought in a tremendous 48.54 pound weight of walleye during the 2 day tournament to take the crown at the 2014 Shut-up and Fish on BIG MAC. The duo weighed 26.06 on day one and 22.48 on day two for the win over the 43 boat field and produced them a hefty $3500 check. “We targeted fish around the sand point area in 18-25 feet of water. ”exclaimed the winners. “We would like to thank Chad Vogl and his staff and the NWT for putting on a great tournament. It was an honor and privilege to fish in a tournament beside one of the best walleye fisherman in the country like Ron Seelhoff! He is a hero and mentor to all of us!”

Second Place belongs to Travis Riley and Cody Connoll who weighed in 10 fish for 46.14 pounds and a check for $2800.

Finishing in third place with 44.58 pounds for 5 fish is the team of Ev Terrell and John Miller. Their finish earned them a check for $2000.

Finishing in fourth place was the one of the greatest professional walleye fisherman of all time, Ron Seelhoff and his daughter Ivy Seelhoff. Their 2 day 10 fish weight of 44.16 pounds earned them a check for $1000.00Big fish of the Tournament was caught by Dave Brandon and Joe Conroy with a 11.60 pound monster walleye, good for $390.

Check this site for more information on the NWT state Championship and Regional Championship in a few days. Anglers that fished 2 tournaments qualify for the regional and those that fished three qualify for the state championship. Thanks for fishing the NWT!

 


 

ERICSON AND LEAF WIN AT MERRITT RESERVIOR

The jig fishing duo of Jason Ericson and Gary Leaf put up a huge weight with a five fish limit that topped the scales at 23.00 pounds to win the third NWT event of the year on May 18th.

Finishing in a close second was the team of John and Holden Hopfer. They weighed 21.00 pounds for five fish.

Third place went to Ron and Seth Green with a total weight of 20.8 pounds.

Fourth Place was the team of Jason Cooper and James Miller with 20.8 pounds.

 


 

BAKER AND KLEEB WIN THE SECOND NWT TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR

Curt Baker and Kerry Kleeb of St. Libory, Nebraska captured the second Nebraska Walleye Trail Circuit victory of the year on Sunday, May, 4, 2014 at Sherman Reservoir. The duo cashed in $2200 for the win as they produced a one day tournament weight of 11.70 pounds for two fish to win over the 36 boat field. The pattern used for the winners was tolling crankbaits on the main lake in 28 feet of water and they caught their big fish on a crawdad flicker shad. When asked about their win Curt answered “It was a nice to have our first tournament win on our home lake. It was a long time coming, but worth the wait. We would like to thanks T &S and the NWT for all of their work putting on the tournaments and circuit.”

Second place and $1600 went to the team of James Miller and Jason Cooper weighing in at 8.40 pounds for four fish.

Third place went to Brian Regelin and Brett Vinzant as they won $1100 for their 8.26 pounds for four fish.

Fourth place and $600 went to the father Daughter team of Tim Hoffman and Kelli Hoffman/Mroczek of Loup City, Nebraska with four fish for 8.04 pounds.

The fishing was very good with 10 limits of fish caught and most teams catching fish. The next stop for the Nebraska Walleye Trail will be at Merritt on Sunday, May 18th.

 


 

2014 ROSE PLACZEK SCHOLARSHIP WINNER BRADY RASSMUSSEN FROM LOUP CITY RECEIVES A $1000 SCHOLARSHIP GIVEN BY T & S PROMOTIONS AND THE NWT!

 


 

PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF AS BRANDON AND CONROY WIN FIRST NWT EVENT AND $3200

The bite was a tough one on Sherman Reservoir for the annual Trade Winds Marina Ice Out Tournament April 12 and 13, 2014. Fortunately, for the team of Dave Brandon and Joe Conroy it was a little different, as they win the 33 boat field with a winning weight of 10.04 pounds. Persistence paid off for Brandon and Conroy as were casting the face of the dam the majority of the day. “We casted number 5 and 7 shad raps in 2-6 feet of water parallel to the dam. We have worked really hard for a long time to win a NWT tournament. We want to thank everyone for putting on such a great event. The NWT has an elite group of fisherman that are always extremely tough competitors.” Commented Brandon after their first ever NWT win. The win cashed the duo a check for $3200. Everyone in the field knew with such a tough bite that every fish was important if they wanted to cash a check. Indeed it was very true. Finishing in second place was the team of Mike Woerth and James Paul with one fish for 2.82 pounds and Big Fish of the tournament earning them a total payday of $2325 cash. Finishing 3rd for $950 was Justin Heflin and Ethan Penner with 1.98 pounds. Tied for Fourth and spitting $650 with 1.91 pounds was Mark and Michelle Leeds and Justin Hampton and Josh Tuenge.
